Square Enix has announced the follow up to the popular 2007 Nintendo DS cult classic RPG “The World Ends With You“. While the game’s name is pretty much the same thing, it is indeed a follow-up to the original and follows the story of new characters who once again participate in the Reapers’ Game while exploring the Shibuya district of Tokyo. NEO: The World Ends With You is set to release on PS4 and Switch sometime in 2021.

The publisher shared a few details on the upcoming game including a trailer what showcases the return of the colourful city. Instead of the previous 2D side-scrolling gameplay, NEO: The World Ends With You is a 3D game with larger combat arenas to fight in and bustling city streets to explore. However, much of the gameplay seems to be true to the original with the traditional badge abilities returning, the soundtrack is on point and the characters and dialogue will make all the hardcore fans happy.
Square Enix did not share any details about the game’s story yet but you can kind of get an idea of what is going on by watching the trailer down below. NEO: The World Ends With You does not have a release date yet. It states “Summer 2021” which is winter here in SA. Visit the official site to learn more.
