Netflix has announced that it will be creating a live-action adaption of the best-selling manga series One Piece. According to the streaming platform, the series has been in development for some time already as they partnered with Tomorrow Studios and Shueisha to bring the pirate adventure story from Japan to audiences around the world.

The Netflix One Piece announcement is great news for the already-popular series as it will allow for new audience members to experience the great story. It is centred around the Straw Hat Pirates and their captain, Monkey D. Luffy whose life is changed when he eats a cursed Gum-Gum Devit Fruit turning him into a rubber man. The story tells the tales of the crew members as they try to hunt down a legendary treasure called “One Piece” It is said to grant the person who finds it the power to become the King of the Pirates.
Netflix has not announced the official casting or release date for the One Piece live-action. The streaming platform did release a note from Eiichiro Oda, the author of the manga series to celebrate the news.
The note reads;
