Netflix has launched a digital theme park in Roblox that the company calls Nextworld. It is available now in early access and is a collection of games and items from a range of popular Netflix titles.
At the moment, Nextworld features various areas which link to a beta version of a Roblox game. Some of these areas are themed around Stranger RHings, One Piece and Rebel Moon. The areas feature games such as Stranger Things: Escape From Hawkins, One Piece: East Blue Brawls and Rebel Moon: Outskirts Battles.
When players enter the area, they will meet a so-called “guardian” which takes the form of a lead character from the series. Dustin from Stranger Things, Luffy from One Piece and Jimmy from Rebel Moon. Players can then participate in these beta games.
There are also smaller mini-game experiences which don’t feature robust themed areas. Some of these mini-games include Is It Cake? and Cobra Kai.
“As you venture through Nextworld, you can collect objects and wearables from different shows and movies to decorate your Fan Pod, your own private space that you can keep to yourself or open up to friends. As you build more currency across challenges on Nextworld, you’ll be able to expand your pod with even more exclusive items – including free limited User-Generated Content (UGC) like a Demogorgon Plushie Head or a One Piece Flag.
The Streamship is the home base in the Netflix Nextworld which acts as a social hub for the experience.
“Plus, the Streamship – your home base within Nextworld – provides social features that allow you to attend events like premieres and viewing parties as well as view daily content bites at the Tudum Theater.”
Netflix plans on adding more themed areas to Nextworld in the weeks ahead. The first update will arrive on 17 May when the service adds Jurassic World: Chaos Theory content to the game.
