One thing I have been thinking about is whether or not Netflix will run out of new content to add to the platform during the COVID-19 pandemic. We know the streaming platform has been forced to delay much of its upcoming show’s productions including Stranger Things 4, The Witcher season 2 and more. But apart from those, does Netflix has enough content in the pipeline for the coming months? It seems so as the company has promised to add new content to the service and keep things fresh and exciting even during the worldwide lockdown (hopefully The Umbrella Academy season  2 am I right?).

While Disney, Warner Bros., Sony and Universal are delaying moving movie releases down the calendar, Netflix claims the company will not reshuffle its 2020 release schedule. The company is confident that it has enough content to last throughout the rest of the year without having to cancel, postpone or delay the release of any of its upcoming series of films.

“Our 2020 slate of series and films are largely shot and are in post-production stages in locations all over the world. And we’re actually pretty deep into our 2021 slate. We don’t anticipate moving the schedule around much, and certainly not in 2020.”

Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer

Ted Sarandos told analysts during the company’s quarterly earnings call yesterday that the company shoots pretty far in advance so they are way ahead of the rest when it comes to new content. There are more than 200 projects being worked on remotely according to Ted which includes scripted programming that has already been shot, animated series, movies and an assortment of other titles. These productions will keep Netflix busy with new content for the next 12 months or so.

Some of these include The Crown season 4 as well as The Umbrella Academy and more. We know the platform releases come highly-praised content including the recent Tiger King as well as The Witcher and more. I don’t know about you but I am pretty thankful for Netflix during this COVID-19 pandemic and with this news, I can’t wait to see what comes our way.
