Five years after the original The Old Guard, Netflix has announced the release date for its sequel, The Old Guard 2. The film is expected to release on 2 July and is a direct sequel to the original movie that follows a group of people who live immortal lives.
Netflix says The Old Guard 2 focuses on Quynh, played by Veronica Ngô, who was originally teased at the end of the first movie. She has escaped her underwater prison and is now out for revenge. She wants to take down Andy, who you might remember is played by Charlize Theron, and her team of fellow immortals: Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), and Nicky (Luca Marinelli).
The twist now is that Andy is no longer immortal following a strange change in her powers. The film also introduces Uma Thurman to the cast.
Netflix hasn’t shared any trailer for The Old Guard 2 yet. We only got a very short behind-the-scenes clip of some of the action scenes. Even this clip is two months old already, but the official Netflix blog is full of some cool stills from the movie. Check out the behind-the-scenes below:
