Netflix Avatar The Last Airbender Trailer Release Date

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Views Surpass One Piece

Despite receiving mostly mixed reviews from critics and fans, the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation on Netflix has been considered a huge success in terms of overall viewership worldwide. The streaming platform revealed that the show managed to bring in 21.2 million views in its first four days of being available on the service, making it the most-watched Netflix show between 19-25 February. It also managed to surpass the debut numbers of the live-action One Piece.

Netflix’s One Piece managed to bring in 18.5 million views over its first four days back in September 2023, meaning Avatar: The Last Airbender overtook those views by at least 13%. It’s unclear if viewers actually stuck around to complete the show or if they dropped the series a few episodes in but initial impressions are strong enough to consider it a success, at least for views.

That said, the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender has been met with a very mixed reception by fans and critics. As of writing, the show’s first season currently holds a 60% on the review aggregate website, RottenTomatoes. Meanwhile, IMDB, which hosts an average rating out of 10 by viewers, has the show rated at a decent 7.4/10. It’s by no means a bad score but compared to One Piece‘s higher ratings, it’s notably lacking.

The good (or bad) news is that this might be enough for Netflix to greenlight a second season.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is based on the popular 2005 Nickelodeon cartoon of the same name. It follows the adventures of Aang, the last airbender of his kind in a world where the four elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water – are mastered and used in war by rival nations. The show was first adapted into a movie in 2010 by M. Night Shyamalan, though most fans tend to not think about that one too much.
