Netflix’s Sex Education Season 4 Will be The Final Season

A new teaser trailer for season 4 of the popular Netflix series Sex Education has confirmed that it will be the final season. Season 4 is set to air on 21 September and sees the return of the full cast including Asa Butterfield as Otis and Ncuti Gatwa as Eric. Sadly, it will be the final outing for them on the show as Netflix has confirmed, after months of rumours, that the fourth season will be its last.

Season 4 of Sex Education will pick up after the events of season 3, which saw Moordale Secondary close down, forcing most of its students to migrate to Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis and his friends are in attendance, though Otis makes quite a big first impression on the other students as the trailer shows him bravely take the stage to announce, “I spend a lot of my free time thinking about sex. I live and breathe sex, all day, every day.”

Rumours about Sex Education‘s fourth season being its last started to gain traction when other cast members began announcing their exit from the series. The first was Emma Mackey (Maeve), who told GamesRadar that it was time for her to say goodbye to the character earlier this year. Gatwa confirmed that it was his final season too as he prepares to take on the role of the next Doctor Who.

For those unfamiliar with the show’s insane premise, it follows Otis Milburn, the son of sex therapist Jean Milburn (played by Gillian Anderson), who arrives at a new school eager to make his mark. Using his knowledge of sex, Otis opens up a “sex clinic” to help other students come to terms with their sexuality or offer sex advice. This, of course, leads to plenty of problems from the school as well as Otis’ relationships with his friends, family and potential love interests.

Sex Education season 4 arrives on 21 September 2023. Check out the new trailer below:
