New AMD Radeon RX GPUs Revealed With Competitive Price Points

AMD has announced a new range of RX GPUs that aim to be mid-gen refinements to its current lineup. There are three new graphics cards coming your way and they are slightly more powerful and best of all, competitively priced compared to the previous models too. There is the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT, 6750 XT and 6650 XT. You will notice the new “50” in these model names pointing to a mid-gen release rather than new AMD RDNA 3 chips.

AMD says the new RX GPUs are exactly the same as the non-50 models. However, they boast new firmware and in turn faster clocks and faster memory. While they aren’t substantially better than the previous range, these GPUs will be a no-brainer when it comes to your purchase due to the price tag and extra power.

Speaking of extra power, AMD says the new cards offer a 5-6% power performance boost over the previous models. This results in a slight frame rate boost across certain games. AMD says that some games could see a frame rate boost of 1 while others might see a jump of up to 10fps. Keep in mind that these cards do use more power. They range from 20 to 35W of extra TDP than the original models so you’ll need to accommodate that going forward.

AMD isn’t shying away from the fact that these cards aren’t tremendously more powerful. In fact, this is what the company wanted in the first place. They don’t want users to see these new AMD RX cards as a new generation of devices. Instead, these are the same GPUs. Nothing has physically changed the company says.

The AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT aims to still be more powerful than NVIDIA’s RTX 3090. The RX 6750 XT is faster than the RTX 3070 and the RX 6650 is faster than the RTX 3060.

These new cards are also competitively priced. There’s a $20 – $30 price difference between the new “50” model and the previous flagship. For example, the RX 6600 costs $336 and the new RX 6650 costs $399.

Of course, all these prices rely on the brand you purchase the card from. AMD says the new RX GPUs are available now. Obviously, these aren’t available in SA yet but I am sure we will see them soon.
