The new Battlefield game has moved from Pre-Alpha to Alpha stage, according to playtesters. Developer EA DICE has yet to make an official announcement for the next game in the franchise, though it seems to be progressing smoothly in development and still seems to be set for a full reveal sometime this summer.
As reported by Insider Gaming, Battlefield playtesters confirmed that the next game had moved from Pre-Alpha to Alpha phase recently following a major update for the project. The update reportedly featured new material and files related to Battlefield Battle Royale. Insider Gaming received a handful of images which they unfortunately could not post, though described some of them as featuring two teams of four pitted against each other in a factory setting. More images showed a four-player team with multi-coloured parachutes landing near a high-rise building.
Beyond that, we know little about the next Battlefield game until it’s officially revealed. EA says it plans on fully revealing the game this summer with a release scheduled for before the end of March 2026. With two major summer gaming events (Xbox Games Showcase and Summer Game Fest) now passed, it’s likely that the new Battlefield could be revealed at a dedicated EA showcase or Gamescom which will take place in August.
In related news, DICE apparently took a bit of inspiration from Alex Garland’s Civil War movie for the next Battlefield’s campaign, though it’s unclear how this will take shape. Another report from back in August 2024 claimed that the new game was going open-world as well. What is confirmed is the fact that the next game will feature a modern setting – a rarity for the franchise as previous games either took place in the distant past or distant future.
Stay tuned for more coverage on the upcoming Battlefield project.
