EA has officially confirmed that a new Battlefield game is in development at the company. The game is being created across its studios including Respawn and DICE with each studio tackling a different aspect of the game. Further details have now leaked regarding the shooter including its setting, maps and launch content.
EA plans to launch Battlefield with 45 different weapons. This would mark double the weapon count compared to Battlefield 2042. The new game is also rumoured to launch with 10 multiplayer maps. The game is set across various locations including Gibraltar and the US. The concept art which accompanied the announcement is Gibraltar. The battle royale mode is rumoured to take place in a tropical location.
Destruction in Battlefield is getting reworked. The game’s destruction system sounds to be tougher than previous games. Players can’t blow up walls easily but can damage them according to their equipped gear. Only a certain calibre of weapons will be able to blow things up at ease. The destruction has been compared to Rainbow Six Siege.
A new feature in Battlefield is the ability to pick up and drag downed players. So instead of reviving them in the middle of the action, players can pick them up and carry them behind cover or pull them towards it.
EA is currently juggling the name of the game. According to the report, surveys have leaned towards calling it Battlefield 6. It seems like we might get Battlefield 6. It makes sense and the name will likely compliment the game’s return to core.
Development on Battlefield only kicked off earlier this year. We still have some time to go before we get to see and hear more about the game. However, EA has been open to the fact that the company wants to include the community in the development of the project. Large-scale community testing is expected to start early next year. It will likely see the return of Battlefield CTE.
