New Crash Bandicoot Game Teased Ahead of The Game Awards

The Game Awards are less than two months away and Toys For Bob and Activision have started teasing a new Crash Bandicoot announcement. Ahead of the event, the publisher has sent out a cryptic pizza box to certain YouTubers that is themed around Aku Aku and Crash Bandicoot.

The pizza box is meant to announce the release of the Crash Bandicoot 4 game hitting steam on 18 October. The box is literally called Aku Aku’s Steam-In Pizza Shack and the seal on the box announces the game’s launch on 18 October. However, there’s more to this pizza box than it seems.

On the side of the box, there’s another sticker that says “hungry for more? Try our new Wumpa Pizza for $12.08!” Now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to notice that the price for the Wumpa Pizza is exactly the same as the date for The Game Awards. The show will run on 8 December (or on 12/08 for those places that don’t respect the proper time format).

While this hasn’t exactly confirmed the announcement, this is not the first time Activision has hosted the same sort of teaser for a sequel. Back in 2019, the company did the same thing for the reveal of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

Many suggest that this pizza box points to the reveal of the anticipated Crash Bandicoot Wumpa Games sequel. This would be a remake of the Crash Bash game that includes a range of competitive mini-games to play in a sort of Mario Party-like style. The game was also teased in Crash Bandicoot 4 itself soon after launch.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens at this point. The Game Awards are still quite some time away but this teaser is the first to arrive ahead of the event. Oh, and in case you missed it, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time releases on Steam on 18 October.
