New Cyberpunk 2077 Video By PlayStation Focuses On The Game’s Development

Recently, it was confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be at E3 this year and we are all hoping for some more gameplay, as well as that slight possibility of a release date announcement. The new Cyberpunk 2077 video by PlayStation takes a look behind the scenes, talking to CD Projekt Red about their highly ambitious project in an “exclusive look”.

In the new Cyberpunk 2077 video, which you can view at the bottom of this article, some gameplay is shown, while PlayStation talks to the co-founder of CD Projekt Red, Marcin Iwiński, a Level Designer, Miles Tost, and Community Lead Marcin Momot. It is all about the development of the game and no, there isn’t any type of release window, with the end of the video stating that Cyberpunk 2077 will release when it is ready.

CD Projekt Red has been crafting an experience that they hope exceeds the expectations of fans of both the original franchise and of their previous output, like The Witcher 3. It is a daunting task, to say the least as the developers mention. The reason the developers can’t just come out and show everything they have is that video game development is “such an iterative process”, meaning what they have now could change a lot when the final product releases.

Further, the developers talk about the customization of the protagonist, V, and why it was vital that players could be able to fully customize a character. One thing that got a bit of negative feedback for the game was the move to a first-person camera. This move, however, was essential to “convey the verticality of Night City”. This new perspective, combined with vehicles, brings more challenges for the developers.

Level designer, Miles Tost, explains these challenges in the new Cyberpunk 2077 video:

It’s easy to make an open-world that when you are on foot, it feels huge, but if you are in a car, it is ten minutes. One feels like a huge world, the other, like a not-so-huge world. How do you balance that, how do you create the feeling of vastness? Those are the cool things when you challenge yourself to push forward into new, uncharted territory. You try to find new solutions to these problems.
