THQ Nordic has teased a new Darksiders game, though the teaser trailer give us very little to go on. At the end of its recent THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, the publisher showed a teaser trailer for the next Darksiders game.
The trailer shows the Charred Council from the series. A voice says “horsemen, be prepared to ride again” before cutting to black. Unfortunately, that’s all we have right now, leaving plenty of room for speculation online. There are currently plenty of theories for what it could be. Some have speculated that it could be another top-down action game like Darksiders Genesis while others think the series might be hopping on the live service trend.
However, it’s likely a new traditional Darksiders game. Many fans are hopeful that we’ll finally get the fourth and final horsemen, Strife, to complete the team in his own traditional hack and slash game. The first Darksiders featured War, the second game featured Death and the third game featured Fury, leaving Strife as the last position.
THQ Nordic posted a description of the teaser on Xbox Wire confirming that it’s a new Darksiders game, though didn’t offer any more information than what we already know:
“The foreboding rumble of caverns eons old. Embers swirl through the air, cast up from pools of bubbling lava. Three enormous heads, hewn from otherworldly stone suddenly burst into life with mystical flame. The Charred Council roar a single word in unison: Horseman. It won’t be long until we reveal more about where the Darksiders series is going next, but for now, know this – the Four Horsemen will ride again.”
The first two games in the series received remasters and were both fairly well-received, while the third game received mostly mixed to positive reviews from fans and critics. The games are frequently on sale on most platforms so they’re easy to pick up and play today.
