Dambuster Studios hosted a special Dead Island 2 gameplay showcase last night where the devs revealed new gameplay. It is hard to believe that Dead Island 2 is actually a thing after waiting almost 84 years for the game. The new showcase video is quite a long one and goes from a real-world zombie apocalypse to the game and back and forth. It works given how the showcase was meant to reveal just how the game is based on an abandoned Los Angeles.
Of course, the Dead Island 2 Alexa control features are also a big push for the game and they are showcased in the new video. We see a group of real people playing Dead Island 2 while one guy stands outside the house issuing commands by accident. These commands are then sent through to the game.

The guy says things like “hey, Zombie! Get over here” and the zombie in-game hears this and walks towards him. He then says “where’s my axe?” and the player automatically equips the axe in-game. Lastly, he says “it is time to go loco” and the game automatically triggers the new zombie rage mode. Of course, the game will feature more commands available at launch.
Apart from that, the rest of the video touches on some more gameplay features. These include weapons, zombie smashing, some of the playable characters in the game and more. Sadly, if you want to watch the full thing you need to put up with the cringe real-world cast and their horrendous acting. However, you can just watch the gameplay video down below too if you want.
Dead Island 2 is set to launch on 28 April 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game was recently delayed from its original February launch day.
