It seems there is a new update on the way for Sony’s DualSense controller range, which will make pairing the device to multiple pieces of tech at once possible.
Right now, if you want to pair your DualSense Controller to a device that isn’t the PS5, you need to manually sync the controller by holding down the Options + PS button at the same time. You can then manually connect to it. Once paired, it stays “registered” to that device, so you can always turn it on and simply connect.
However, if you want to connect it back to your PS5 console, you need to plug it into a wire to pair it again. The same goes for another device. You have to do the whole Options + PS button story again on each new piece of tech you pair the controller to.
This might change as Sony has confirmed an update is coming that “enhances pairing functionality”. The news comes after Apple announced DualSense Controller support for its Vision Pro headset. Soon after the WWDC 2025 keynote event, the PlayStation X account shared a post saying: “Want to pair your DualSense controller to multiple devices at once?An update planned for later this year enhances pairing functionality.”
We don’t know exactly what this means and when this will arrive, but the post is pretty clear on what to expect: multiple device pairing. I don’t know how Sony is going to implement this feature. Perhaps users will be able to save a number of devices to the controller for easy pairing?
We’ll have to wait and see what the plan is whenever this arrives, of course.
