New details for the unannounced Far Cry 7 from Ubisoft have leaked and there seems to be a family power struggle at the core of its plot that has been compared to the hit HBO series Succession. While we’ve already seen a similar power dynamic in Far Cry 5‘s Seed family, the seventh game seems to be taking it one step further. We now know the names of the key players that might be involved in the game.
The leak comes from Reddit user KekanKok who previously reported on Mortal Kombat 1‘s datamined files for Ghostface which turned out to be true. The user claims to have some knowledge on the plot details for Far Cry 7, providing a breakdown of the family power struggle that will be integral to the game’s plot (quite similar to Succession). One other key detail mentioned in the leak is New England, which suggests that this could be the potential setting of the new game.
Of course, in the event that this leak is accurate and you don’t wish to be spoiled of the story, we recommend not reading further. The leaked details read:
The plot seems to revolve around a wealthy family called the Bennets: Layla, Dax, Brie, Christian, Henry, and Krista. The family members engage in a power struggle similar to the series Succession. One of the villains is named Ian Duncan, described as a “conspiracy theorist with an army of believers” and an “envy of the wealthy elite and the power they wield.” Alongside these characters are two others who appear to be secondary: John Mackay and a doctor named Safna Kazan. Another detail is that New England is mentioned several times in the descriptions, suggesting this could be the setting.
The New England setting mentioned in this leak does contradict a previous leak which claimed that the game will actually be set in the Alaskan wilderness. We can’t know for certain until Ubisoft makes an official announcement – fans suspect that it might be revealed this year, given the gap between Far Cry 7 and the last entry, Far Cry 6, which launched in 2021.
