New Faster iPad Mini Announced With Apple Intelligence

Apple has announced a new iPad Mini. This marks the first upgrade to the range since back in 2021 and while there aren’t major design changes, the new iPad Mini packs new speed and storage.

Apple says the new iPad Mini will start at $499 and come with a new A17 Pro chip. This chip includes a 30% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU. The A17 Pro also includes the Apple Neural Engine at double the speed as the previous model. The iPad Mini comes with support for the Apple Pencil Pro.

Most importantly, Apple has finally upgraded the base storage option on the iPad Mini from 64GB to 128 ]GB. This is the lowest storage option you can get for it now. It also comes with Wi-Fi 6E and a USB-C port. Apart from that, there’s no real design change on the iPad Mini besides the new colours. It will come in a new Blue and Purple colour alongside the original Space Gray and Starlight.

Apple has added AI to this iPad Mini and it doesn’t use an M3 or M4 chip to take advantage of it either. The device will pack all the Apple Intelligence features you’ll find on iPhone and Mac when the software update finally releases later this month.

Apple is expected to release the new iPad Mini on 23 October with pre-orders now open in certain regions. We are waiting on local pricing and availability.

Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing said:

“There is no other device in the world like iPad mini, beloved for its combination of powerful performance and versatility in our most ultraportable design. iPad mini appeals to a wide range of users and has been built for Apple Intelligence, delivering intelligent new features that are powerful, personal, and private. With the powerful A17 Pro chip, faster connectivity, and support for Apple Pencil Pro, the new iPad mini delivers the full iPad experience in our most portable design at an incredible value.”
