New Gran Turismo 7 Trailer Reveals Improved Livery Editor

The latest trailer for PlayStation and Polyphony Digital’s upcoming racing simulator Gran Turismo 7 explores the in-game Livery Editor, allowing players to customize their vehicles with various stickers, emblems, colours and more. Each game has evolved the Livery Editor to some extent, but Gran Turismo 7 promises to make it easier to use for players.

Gran Turismo 7 is one of the most anticipated upcoming PlayStation exclusives launching early next year, and players have been optimistic about the franchises return to form following the online-focused spin-off Gran Turismo Sport. Gran Turismo 7 will offer players a more authentic racing experience with a robust single-player offering combined with its new online components.

One of the features being fleshed out in Gran Turismo 7 is the Livery Editor, which allows players to create their own customized vehicles via a number of options like adjustable stickers, vinyl, emblems, colour shades and more. It may not be as in-depth as other car customization modes in the racing genre, but it delivers just enough for fans to get creative with their own unique and inspired designs. Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo franchise, said:

“I believe that using the Livery Editor turns a car into a blank canvas, a medium of expression. It’s essentially a place where players can express themselves. So, our main goal for us increasing the new Livery Editor is to improve usability and the ease of use for the gamers.”

Gran Turismo 7 launches on 4 March 2022 exclusively for both PS4 and PS5. The game was originally planned to launch in 2021, but problems caused by the ongoing global pandemic and development complications made Polyphony Digital choose to delay the title further in order to polish up the experience.
