A new LEGO Harry Potter game in the vein of The Skywalker Saga was briefly teased on Instagram by the Warner Bros South Africa account, it’s been claimed. The post was immediately deleted by WB South Africa but not before users managed to grab screenshots of the slip-up and circulate it to various media outlets.
According to Video Games Chronicle, while the leaked image of the new LEGO Harry Potter game isn’t being shared around sites for copyright reasons, it features a LEGO Minifigure of Harry Potter with the date ‘8.25.23’ below it. The image also includes a logo for TT Games, the developers behind numerous LEGO video games. This pins a 25 August 2023 release date on the title, so we can hopefully expect an official reveal to happen very soon.

Previous rumours suggested that a LEGO Harry Potter game was in development in the style of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, likely including every bit of Harry Potter content from all the movies to potentially the Fantastic Beasts spin-offs. This leaked teaser is probably the best lead we have that the rumour is legitimate.
The LEGO Harry Potter Collection was released back in 2016 and essentially covers Years 1-7 of the entire saga in a remastered format. This shouldn’t be mistaken with the recently leaked LEGO Harry Potter game which will supposedly contain more content in a “definitive” package. We’ll just have to wait for an official confirmation from Warner Bros on the matter.
While the LEGO Harry Potter games (and LEGO games in general) are immensely popular, it’s easy to see how the release of this new LEGO Harry Potter game could be riding off the monumental success of Hogwarts Legacy which launched earlier this year to some of the biggest sales of 2023.
In the meantime, the LEGO Harry Potter Collection is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
