New Persona 5 ‘P5T’ Spin-off is Not a Fighter – Report

Last month, a registered domain was discovered for ‘P5T’, which potentially hinted at a new, unannounced Persona 5 spin-off game. Many fans assumed that this spin-off would be a fighting game in the same vein as Persona 4 Arena but according to a dataminer/leaker, it’s not a fighter at all. Additionally, the domain was recently updated which suggests that a reveal is coming sooner rather than later.

According to prominent Persona dataminer Pan-hime, the unannounced Persona 5 spin-off won’t be a fighter. No other information was provided about what it could be, though fans believe that it might be a tactics game. The last Persona 5 spin-off, Strikers, was a Musou-styled game with a focus on action over traditional turn-based combat. It’s possible that this new entry could change the gameplay significantly again to another genre.

Reliable leaker Persona Central also believes that the reveal for P5T could be just around the corner, potentially at either the upcoming  Xbox Games Showcase or Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. Persona Central believes it could be revealed at the latter.

As with all leaks and reports, take this with a pinch of salt for now until we get some confirmation from Atlus. While Persona 6 might still be deep in development without a reveal window in sight, Persona fans can at least enjoy one more adventure with the Persona 5 cast before moving onto the next big entry.

If you’re looking to pick up and play the previous Persona games, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal are currently available in remastered forms on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and PC. All three games are also available to play on Xbox Game Pass if you have an active subscription to the service. That said, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the definitive edition of the last-gen fighter, was ported to PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC last year.
