Sony seems to be working on a new PS5 console revision which will launch in Japan soon. According to new retail listings from Japanese stores, the new model will release on the same date as Sony’s new proposed price increase in the country. If you missed it, Sony is increasing the price of the PS5 effective immediately. However, Japan is the only region where the price hike will only come into effect on 15 September. It seems that the company will release this revised console on the same day.
While it is still too early to tell what the new PS5 console revision will include, reports claim that Sony is including its new 6nm processor in the console. There won’t be a performance increase in this new SoC. However, the processor is easier to make and at the same time, doesn’t suffer from issues pertaining to the ongoing supply chain issues.

The PS5 6nm node is seen as a refinement of the 7nm node which is currently in the PS5. These SoC both perform the same tasks but the newer hardware doesn’t require the same amount of components. It is also similarly priced to the current SoC so Sony won’t be decreasing the price tag with this hardware.
Sony has yet to officially announce the new PS5 console revision. In fact, the company will likely release the console without any sort of media buzz. Given the recent price hike, this console will probably release under the radar as an attempt to tackle the ongoing stock constraints around the world.
