We still don’t know exactly when STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will launch but GSC Game World is promising a Q1 2024 launch. So it should be out before 1 April. However, in the meantime, we have some new fancy-looking screenshots to gawk over. The latest batch of screenshots from the developer show off some stunning new vistas while also detailing an overhauled HUD.
The new HUD is a lot cleaner than previously. It minimizes the health bar section to three slim bars while also squeezing the ammo count icons to the opposite corner. The top map icon has also been reduced to a simple compass showing off various key landmarks and a custom waypoint. It gives me Dying Light 2 vibes but at the same time, it is actually sleeker.

You can see in a few screenshots that these HUD elements do change during gameplay. The top compass gets red markers to indicate nearby enemies, for example. There’s also a screenshot of a red underlay which likely indicates low health.
We also need to take a moment to appreciate the game visuals too. STALKER 2: Heart of Chorbobyl looks pretty impressive. It gives me Metro Exodus flashbacks. There’s no doubt that the game will be a visual showcase for the years ahead.
We can likely bank on a release date for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl dropping at the Xbox Developer Direct event this week. Microsoft is set to host the showcase on Thursday. The stream will play host to a number of reveals including the Indiana Jones game from Bethesda- rumoured to be titled “The Great Circle”. There’s also the potential that Sea of Thieves will launch on PS5.
