New State of Play Announced For This Week Where Sony Will Reveal a New PS4 Title

It looks like Sony is taking a page out of Nintendo’s playbook (Nintendo Direct) and updating their player base more frequently with a live stream event. The new State of Play event will happen this Thursday (9 May 2019) at midnight for South Africans and it might just be worth waiting up for.

The new State of Play will only be roughly 10 minutes long, but it will feature an extended look at the MediEvil remake as well as your first look at a brand-new title. It is pretty exciting that we will get a glimpse of a new title, but many might be hoping for some more next-gen PlayStation news. Unfortunately, Sony made it clear that you shouldn’t expect any updates about the PS5 “this time”.

So would it really be worth it then to watch a 10-minute stream at midnight? Well, Sony says they have PS4 updates in the new State of Play that they just couldn’t wait to share, explaining that:

PlayStation Worldwide Studios will be showing off an extended look at the upcoming MediEvil remake, as well as a first look at a new title. And we’ll have other updates and announcements from upcoming PS4 games.

A new game, a look at the MediEvil remake and updates/announcements from upcoming PS4 games is definitely something to get excited about. We haven’t heard anything big from the likes of Ghosts of Tsushima, Death Stranding or The Last of Us Part II, so if Sony could drop a release date for one of these titles, or some new gameplay, then the stream will be more than worth it. Keep in mind that Sony isn’t attending E3 this year, so these State of Play streams will surely be the way they make their big announcements this year.

You can watch the new State of Play below at midnight on 9 May 2019. In the meantime, tell us what you think the new title from Sony could be in the comment section.
