Thor Love and Thunder New Trailer Gorr The God Butcher Christian Bale

New Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer Reveals Gorr The God Butcher

The latest trailer for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Thor: Love and Thunder, has arrived and it doesn’t waste time throwing us into the deep end. We get more footage of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster’s Thor as well as Christian Bale, who will play one of the MCU’s most threatening villains yet in Gorr The God Butcher.

The trailer starts off with narration from fan-favourite character Korg, giving us a glimpse into Thor’s transformation following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) undergoes some training to get back into shape, but he crosses paths with Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher and an old love interest in the Mjolnir-wielding Jane Foster.

Thor: Love and Thunder will once again be directed by Taika Waititi, who previously directed Thor: Ragnarok (and also voices Korg). Like Ragnarok, Love and Thunder boasts a vibrant colour palette with plenty of influence drawn from the 80s aesthetic and styles. Hopefully it maintains the former film’s sense of fun, adventure and well-timed comedy.

Christian Bale, the Oscar-winning actor who previously portrayed Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, will make his debut in the MCU as the film’s central antagonist, Gorr The God Butcher – albeit with a slightly altered, but nonetheless intimidating, design from the comics.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios continue to push forward in the next phase of the MCU. Other upcoming movies include Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Fantastic Four, Blade and The Marvels, as well as numerous Disney+ television shows like the second season of Loki and Ms. Marvel, among others. It’s going to be a busy time for superhero movies in the coming years.

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives exclusively in cinemas on 8 July 2022. Check out the latest trailer below.
