New Tomb Raider or Project 007 Might Appear at Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest is right around the corner, promising a showcase of exciting reveals, announcements and world premieres that typically happen around June each year (replacing the slot that E3 once occupied). Host Geoff Keighley already confirmed this year’s event will take place on 6 June. Viewers are eager to see what could possibly be announced and right on cue, some early rumours suggest that we might see the new Tomb Raider game, IO Interactive’s Project 007 and more at the event.

The report comes from reliable leaker NateTheHate who recently answered a question on X, asking whether or not there’d be some big games at Summer Game Fest this year like Project 007, the new Tomb Raider or The Wolf Among Us 2. NateTheHate replied, “At least one of those will be at SGF. Which of them would you prefer?”

This suggests that at least one of these titles will make an appearance at Summer Game Fest, though the leaker remained pretty cryptic about which one it could be. The most realistic option would be Project 007, Hitman developer IO Interactive’s take on James Bond, as it had been teased a couple of times in the last few years, most recently at the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event last month.

Meanwhile, we know that Crystal Dynamics is currently working on the next Tomb Raider game, with previous reports claiming that it will be set in open-world India. Beyond that, little else is known about Lara Croft’s return to gaming. Some suggest that it will be another reboot while others believe it will be a loose continuation of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, finally seeing Lara embrace her tomb-raiding persona that we’re all familiar with.

Either way, it won’t be long until Summer Game Fest kicks off the summer gaming events season. Microsoft will also host its Xbox Games Showcase on 8 June, so there’s a lot to look forward to and speculate on in the meantime.
