New X-Men: Dark Phoenix Trailer Prepares to End the Series

After 19 years, the X-Men film series will be coming to an end and the Dark Phoenix trailer gives us a glimpse on what to expect from the final chapter in the current series.

Of course, it will most likely get a reboot somewhere down the line but the current saga will end with a bang (we hope) as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) becomes the Dark Phoenix and wreaks havoc on the world.

The latest trailer gives us a glimpse to the events that will take place in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix film when it releases on 7 June 2019. A funeral, a crazy train ride and a glimpse of Jessica Chastain’s villainous appearance.

The film will see stars such as James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp and more return for their X-Men roles.

Jessica Chastain plays an evil alien empress named Lilandra that stirs up drama and sends the X-Men into conflict by manipulating Jean Grey. When chatting to Jimmy Fallon about whether she uses her powers for good or bad she said “Well I think the powers are for good, but others might think it’s evil. I mean, I get to beat up a lot of X-Men in the movie… maybe kill some?”

Simon Kinberg, longtime producer and writer for the X-Men movies series will make his directorial debut in Dark Phoenix which is based on the 1980s comic book storyline. The original film released in 2000 and has taken viewers across worlds and even different timelines. Dark Phoenix marks the end of this current series before the X-Men characters become available to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Check out the trailer below and let us know if you are excited to see the film in June.
