FTC New DOOM Oblivion Remaster Bethesda Leaked

Next DOOM Titled The Dark Ages, Also Coming to PS5 – Report

Earlier this month, we reported on a new filed trademark that potentially hinted at the next DOOM game. Since then, new information has come to light. According to sources, it will be titled DOOM: The Dark Ages and an official reveal is set to happen at the Xbox Games Showcase on 9 June. Despite developer id Software and parent company Bethesda being under the Xbox banner, it also appears that the game will release on PS5 in addition to Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The report comes from leaker NateTheHate who has mostly been accurate with their past leaks. According to the leaker, the next DOOM game is titled DOOM: The Dark Ages and it’s said to have a medieval setting. The game will apparently be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase next month but surprisingly, it will also launch on PS5.

Xbox has been taking a multiplatform approach this year which includes former exclusive games like Hi-Fi Rush from the now-defunct Tango Gameworks, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment and Grounded all getting releases on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. There was some uncertainty about how far Microsoft would take its new multiplatform plan but judging by this latest report, it seems like we can also expect its bigger AAA games to hit other consoles too.

If anything, this might give The Elder Scrolls fans hope that the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6 could also see a multiplatform release too, along with Starfield possibly heading to PS5 as well. That said, Microsoft has yet to reveal its hand about its multiplatform approach so we’ll have to wait for confirmation.

Sadly, the next DOOM game likely won’t involve former series composer Mick Gordon after he brought to light his unpaid work and creative conflicts with id Software while working on DOOM Eternal.

The Xbox Games Showcase takes place on 9 June at 7PM CAT.
