Ghost Recon Breakpoint Development Ubisoft Updates

Next Ghost Recon Game to Enter Internal Alpha This Year – Report

The next untitled Ghost Recon game from Ubisoft will reportedly enter its internal alpha phase later this year. Sources claim that the game is expected to arrive sometime in 2026 and it’s currently in development under the codename Ovr.

As reported by Insider Gaming, the next Ghost Recon game recently entered its internal alpha phase, meaning it could take as long as 12 months to get to its final release. This suggests that the game might launch late next year, with some fans speculating an October or November launch. Nothing is official at this point so it’s worth taking everything with a grain of salt until we get confirmation from Ubisoft directly.

Back in March 2024, Insider Gaming also reported that the next Ghost Recon title would adopt a modern setting akin to Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare series, set in the fictional Naiman conflict. It would also feature a first-person perspective, which is a departure from the previous games that have always been third-person. Insider Gaming’s sources called it “somewhat similar to the Modern Warfare series or something akin to the tactical shooter Ready or Not.”

Ubisoft is having a relatively quiet 2025. The company bowed out of hosting its annual Ubisoft Forward event this year, typically held around the summer season and close to Summer Game Fest. At the moment, it’s believed that the company is working on multiple projects that might not be ready to be shown yet such as a potential remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake and Far Cry 7. We can only assume Beyond Good & Evil 2 has disappeared into a black void somewhere.

The sources say that Ubisoft will be “returning next year with a massive Ubisoft Forward event” that will pack plenty of big reveals, so we’ll just have to patiently wait and see what’s in store for players.
