While news is slow to roll out on the next installment of Rockstar’s popular Grand Theft Auto series, it looks like tidbits of information is now coming from unlikely sources. According to rapper Snoop Dogg, music producer and rapper Dr. Dre is currently in the studio producing music for what could be the next major GTA game.
Rockstar Games have had their hands full for almost a decade now on Grand Theft Auto V and its massively popular GTA Online multiplayer, but they’ve taken to rereleasing the acclaimed title on every generation so far, with a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version on its way too. However, we’ve received some reports about the studio being hard at work on Grand Theft Auto 6, and it looks like it may feature music from the legendary West Coast hip-hop producer Dr. Dre.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Snoop Dogg spoke a bit about Dr. Dre working on music for the “GTA game that’s coming out.” Some fans initially thought it would be music for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which comes remastered in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (as the duo originally licensed music to the game), but Snoop Dogg’s exact wording has raised some eyebrows:
“I do know he’s in the studio. I do know he’s making great f*cking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”
If Snoop Dogg is right, then we could see music from Dr. Dre appear in Grand Theft Auto 6. He might be composing (or working closely with) the game’s original score, though that may also feature new original songs from the artist. Rockstar and publisher Take-Two Interactive have failed to comment on this news yet.
