Actress Scarlett Johansson has confirmed that she’ll be starring in the upcoming Jurassic World movie from Godzilla director Gareth Edwards. Earlier this year, rumours began surfacing that the Black Widow star might be involved in the untitled Jurassic World project. Now the actress has not only confirmed that she’ll appear in the movie but apparently she’s been trying to get a role in the franchise for over a decade.
Speaking to ComicBook in a recent interview, Scarlett Johansson confirmed the previous rumours that she had been cast in the movie, sharing some enthusiasm for screenwriter David Koepp’s script who co-wrote 1993’s Jurassic Park. “The script is so incredible,” said Johansson. “David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome.”
Johansson stated:
“I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I’m just like, I can’t even, I’m pinching myself. I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over ten years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable.”
Back in February, Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards signed on to direct the next Jurassic World movie, which is fantastic news considering that the director’s style, known for capturing scale and size unlike any other filmmaker working today, might lend itself well to a movie all about enormous dinosaurs.
In other movie news, actor Eddie Murphy recently confirmed that voice recording work was being done on Shrek 5. He also revealed that a Donkey spin-off movie was in the pipeline to release after Shrek 5 next year.
