Next Mass Effect Teaser BioWare N7 Day 2023

Next Mass Effect Will Maintain Mature Tone of Original Trilogy Says BioWare

BioWare says the next Mass Effect game, which is still untitled, will maintain the mature tone of the original trilogy. This is in response to the recently released BioWare RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which many fans felt strayed too far from the tone and style of the previous Dragon Age games with its change in art style.

Speaking on X recently, Michael Gamble, an executive producer and project director on the next Mass Effect game, stated, “Mass Effect will maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I’m gonna say for now.” The original trilogy which featured Commander Shepard definitely had a mature tone despite its colourful cast of characters. Gamble is reassuring fans that there won’t be a massive tonal shift in the style of the next game unlike Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

As for what we know about the next Mass Effect, BioWare has only drip-fed information on the untitled game over the past few years. Unfortunately, it seems like we might be in for a very long wait. A report from November last year claimed that the next title could release in 2029 or later, depending on the development period of the ambitious AAA game.

Not much is known about the story or returning characters either. The game’s first teaser trailer revealed that Liara T’Soni will play a part in the upcoming game, though since the Asari can live for thousands of years, it’s unclear when the next game will be set (or if we’ll see other familiar characters make a return too).

7 November marks Mass Effect day and that’s usually when BioWare drops new details or information on the upcoming game, so keep an eye out on the date. Make sure you also read up on everything we know so far about the next Mass Effect.
