Ninja Theory, the developer behind the Hellblade franchise, has reportedly already had its next game greenlit by parent company Xbox. The studio is preparing to launch Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 today and there’s a lot of concern regarding the game’s reception and whether Microsoft might pull the plug on the developer like Tango Gameworks. According to a new report, fans can rest easy as we can look forward to the next Ninja Theory project in the future.
The report originates from Windows Central which claimed in a recent article that Xbox had already greenlit Ninja Theory’s next game after Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and there’s no threat of a studio closure right now. It’s understandable to be worried about Ninja Theory after Xbox unceremoniously shut down Tango Gameworks despite the Japanese developer giving Microsoft its highest-rated award-winning game in years with 2023’s Hi-Fi Rush.
According to leaker Gaz from Game On Daily, the project that was greenlit was Hellblade 3. This makes sense as the franchise has the potential to become an excellent trilogy if handled right. Beyond that, Ninja Theory is also working on a visually striking horror title codenamed Project Mara, though it’s unclear when this will release.
Yep as I said on my show and Discord, Hellblade 3 has already been green lit. Xbox gave Ninja Theory assurances already apparently after the Tango fiasco. Let’s see if they keep their word mind. But I’m not worried. https://t.co/k30UhgBOSa

On the other hand, there’s also the very real fear that Microsoft could go back on its word and outright cancel Ninja Theory’s upcoming projects and shutter the studio if it wants. Judging by the assured tone of the leakers, there doesn’t seem to be any cause for concern though.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is available today on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Make sure you check out the game’s PC system requirements.
