A Nintendo Direct presentation is reportedly taking place sometime in September and it will primarily feature a lot of Zelda news. This includes Nintendo Switch HD ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, two entries in The Legend of Zelda franchise that have yet to arrive on Switch. The source, journalist Jeff Grubb, also believes we’ll see the long-rumoured Metroid Prime remaster at this event.
Speaking on a recent podcast with GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti recently, Grubb detailed supposed plans happening at Nintendo to host another Direct event in September, possibly on the week starting from 12 September. There’s some uncertainty about if it will be a general Direct, Mini or Partner Direct, but if there’s going to be Zelda news, it definitely won’t be a Partner Direct.

“To be clear guys, the one thing we are very, very sure is being announced at this Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch,” said Grubb. “Yeah, I think there’s going to be a lot of Zelda stuff at this thing. I think this is like a Zelda blowout for Nintendo.”
Grubb added more information about this unannounced Nintendo Direct, the Metroid Prime remaster, the Zelda ports and the possibility of Breath of the Wild 2 being given a name:
“If they’re going to have Zelda stuff there, this is not a Partner Direct, and those are the things that we’ve been hearing. The specifics that were name-dropped were Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD ports to the Switch.
Which, again, even had we not heard that, I would be speculating that that would be happening right now while we wait for the run-up to Breath of the Wild 2. And yet we have heard that, and we’ve heard other things, again Metroid Prime remaster, that sounds like it’s got to be announced at something like this.
And then third parties will be showing up. I’ve heard some of that as well, it’s not super exciting the things I’ve heard. To me it sounds like at least a Mini Direct, but if it’s going to have the name of the next Zelda, which seems like a distinct possibility, that sounds like a big general Direct.”
Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement about this Direct event, though Grubb has a mostly solid track record. Additionally, HD ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess have been making the rounds online for months now as they’re both the only Zelda games not yet available on Nintendo Switch, either through a port or remaster.
We’ll have to wait for Nintendo to make a confirmation on the matter, but until then, take this with a pinch of salt. In related news, PlayStation is also rumoured to host a showcase in September.
