Sam Fisher’s return has seen multiple teases and hints this year alone, with a Ubisoft director teasing that they are working on the next Splinter Cell game, Sam Fisher’s voice actor doing the same and there was even a hint in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. That’s why I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that the game might get revealed at E3 2019, which of course, we know now it didn’t.
That doesn’t mean that Ubisoft isn’t working on the next Splinter Cell game. In fact, it looks like they definitely are working on the title and that the publisher plans to make a big comeback with the franchise. This will include “new experiments” but if you ask me, the game is still a very, very long way off.
The words “different devices” just scream next-gen for me. As you know, the PS5 and the next Xbox will support ray tracing and one can just imagine the next Splinter Cell taking advantage of the amazing lightning this type of tech can provide. It is also possible that Ubisoft is experimenting with VR compatibility for the game so players can finally jump into the boots of Sam Fisher for real.
At the time of writing, there is no indication when the next Splinter Cell will release or even when it will be revealed.
