Avatar The Last Airbender Live-Action Series Netflix Cast

Nickelodeon’s Avatar: Seven Havens Sees Series Co-Creators Return

Nickelodeon has announced that the Avatar saga will continue with a new upcoming 2D animated series led by co-creator Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino. The series will be called Avatar: Seven Havens, and various names have jumped on board to help create the show.

At the moment, those involved include both series co-creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, as well as Executive Producers, Ethan Spaulding (Mike Tyson Mysteries) and Sehaj Sethi (The Winchesters).

Nickelodeon has yet to announce any casting or release windows for the show; however, the studio has confirmed that Avatar: Seven Havens will span two seasons and include 13 half-hour episodes each.

The studio did share a bit of information around Avatar: Seven Havens, saying that it will introduce a new earthbending Avatar and her twin as the protagonists of the story. She is seen as a threat to the world because of her powers and is “hunted by both human and spirit enemies”. “Her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse”.

Avatar: Seven Havens is set to take the series back to its roots after the Netflix live-action adaptation launched to some rather rocky fan feedback. Both Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino departed the Netflix production due to creative differences. The Last Airbender showrunner, Albert Kim, also left the Netflix production over the same issue.

Netflix has since brought Jabbar Raisani and Christine Boylan on board to run the next chapter of the live-action adaptation. However, fans are still on the fence regarding the project.

Thankfully, the Netflix Avatar production is a separate project entirely compared to what Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino are now working on. Although there might be some lore connections, Avatar: Seven Havens’ story will likely focus more on the original animated series than the live-action adaptation.

At the moment, Avatar fans have a lot to look forward to. Not only is Avatar: Seven Havens an exciting project, but we also have Nickelodeon’s upcoming Avatar movie that focuses on Aang and his friends and takes place in between The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.
