Nicolas Cage will be playing the eccentric zookeeper Joe Exotic in a new TV series based on the popular Netflix show Tiger King. According to Variety, the new Netflix true-crime documentary Tiger King show will be Nicolas Cage’s first TV role. However, we don’t know much about it yet.
The Nextflix Tiger King show became an overnight sensation on the platform with millions of viewers witnessing the Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin tiger-fueled war. The Nicolas Cage Tiger King TV show will put a spotlight on Joe Exotic and will be loosely based off the Texas Monthly article Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild.
Unlike the Netflix show, the upcoming Nicolas Cage adaption will be scripted. However, expected some new interesting plot twists along the way. The show is being produced by Imagine Television. However, there’s no word yet as to what streaming platform the show will debut on.
The upcoming show is not the only content in production. Another TV show starring Kate McKinnon as Carole Basking has been in production for months. In addition, ID is working on a true-crime follow up called Investigating The Strange World Of Joe Exotic. The Kate McKinnon show kicked off production months before the Netflix show debuted.
While we don’t know much about the upcoming Cage show, we will share more when we do. For now, just know the months ahead will be packed full with more Tiger King craziness.
