Nintendo Direct June 2023 When Where Watch

Nintendo Leakers Uncertain if Direct is Still Happening in February

Last month, a rumour circulated that Nintendo was preparing to host a new Direct event in February that strictly focuses on upcoming Switch 1 games (a Nintendo Switch 2 event is confirmed by Nintendo to take place on 2 April). However, leakers have now come forward expressing some uncertainty about whether or not the Direct event will still happen this month.

Prominent leaker NateTheHate, who has a good track record of industry leaks and insider information, claims that he’s now unsure if there will be a Nintendo Direct event this month. Ph Brazil, another Nintendo leaker, chipped in and claimed that the event is still happening despite NateTheHate’s comments.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon (and likely to release this year), some fans have raised good points about the nature of this new February Direct event – specifically should there be a need for one at all. If the earlier reports are correct and Nintendo was planning on hosting a show focused entirely on Switch 1 games, there’s a good chance that many of them would already be cross-gen with the upcoming Switch 2 and would be better suited for the company’s April show.

While leakers are uncertain if the event is still happening this month, there doesn’t seem to be any doubt that The Pokemon Company will put on a new Pokemon Presents event rumoured to happen on 27 February (which happens to be Pokemon Day). Other reports claim that there won’t be any Switch 2 exclusives announced at this Presents show, though there’s a good chance we’ll finally get a glimpse of Pokemon Legends Z-A, the new spin-off game from Game Freak which is set to take place entirely in Lumiose City in X and Y’s Kalos Region.

If you can’t wait to find out when you’ll be able to play Pokemon Legends Z-A, Amazon UK accidentally leaked the release date for the game.
