Nintendo Partners With Samsung For Switch 2 Chips – OLED Model Has Been Discussed

Nintendo has signed with Samsung to help produce additional custom NVIDIA-designed processors for the Switch 2. A report from Bloomberg confirms what we heard earlier this year when sources claimed that Nintendo was gunning to sell 20 million Switch 2 consoles during its 2025-2026 fiscal year.

A report now says that Nintendo has brought Samsung on board to help produce the extra chips it needs in order to manufacture more Switch 2 consoles to meet the demand. Essentially, Nintendo hopes to sell 20 million units before the end of March 2026, and the current stock won’t fit to meet the demand.

While Nintendo Switch 2 stock currently seems to be stable, there is some concern that supply will run dry as the year goes on. Nintendo will likely have a stellar holiday season ahead for the Switch 2, where the company will aggressively target Christmas campaigns.

The extra supply from Samsung means Nintendo will be able to keep up with the demand and make sure console stock is constantly available. This also helps avoid the possible scalping issue.

Samsung already produces some components for Nintendo. The company makes memory chips and displays; however, Samsung has been facing some tough competition from TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.). This new agreement will greatly help Samsung gain some popularity in the market.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is built on Samsung’s 8-nanometer node, which is larger than the company’s 5nm node. While the 5nm node does provide better efficiency, the 8nm node is cheaper and easier to produce, which is likely why Nintendo opted for this route.

The report also says that Samsung has already pushed Nintendo to include its OLED panels in the future revised Switch 2 console, should it ever happen. This news has been backed up by multiple sources too. It is said that Samsung has offered to use its 5nm node and its OLED panels in an “upgraded” Switch 2. This would provide a better display as well as improved battery life.

Of course, should a Switch 2 upgrade happen, it is likely still a few years away. Nintendo is expected to launch the Switch 2 on 5 June. The official specs and detailed breakdown of the hardware were covered last week.
