Nintendo Switch Next-Gen Console Negotiations Suppliers

Nintendo Plans to Reveal Next Console in June or September – Report

Nintendo is reportedly planning to unveil its next console in either June or September via a big Direct presentation. The company has been relatively quiet about any new hardware apart from variations to the Nintendo Switch model like the OLED or Lite but it looks like a new console is well on its way. This also lines up with a previous report from reliable source Nikkei, which claimed back in January that Nintendo had begun negotiations with suppliers for a next-gen console.

The latest report originates from YouTuber Mike Odyssey (via Reddit) who claims to have inside sources close to Nintendo. These same sources apparently told him of a final Direct for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that was supposed to take place on 12 April but Nintendo chose to release a final trailer a day later instead. According to the content creator, Nintendo will host a Direct presentation in either June or September this year that will offer fans the first look at new hardware.

First and foremost, we don’t have any way of authenticating this information so take all of this with a massive grain of salt. However, Nikkei is a reputable source and if the rumours about Nintendo meeting up with suppliers for next-gen hardware is true, then it adds a morsel of validity to these claims. Additionally, Video Game Chronicle’s Andy Robinson, a reliable source of insider information, previously reported that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would be Nintendo Switch’s last big release.

Robinson added that Nintendo would begin talks about new hardware in 2024 as opposed to this year like Mike Odyssey is claiming so there’s a bit of conflicting information there. Perhaps plans have changed behind the scenes and if Tears of the Kingdom, scheduled to launch this May, really is the last major release for Switch, then it makes sense for Nintendo to start discussing new hardware as soon as June or later.

We’ll have to keep a close eye on this as Nintendo has yet to lay out its long-term plan beyond the launch of its next Zelda game.
