Nintendo Attending E3 2023 Skip Plans

Nintendo Probably Won’t Make Any Major Announcements at The Game Awards

The Game Awards 2024 is set to air later tonight (or very early tomorrow morning if you’re watching from South Africa), marking the 10th anniversary of the annual awards show. Year after year, the event has hosted several big game announcements and reveals, though Nintendo has notably bowed out of appearing at the show over the last few years except to collect awards. A new report says that it isn’t going to change this year either and you probably shouldn’t expect any sort of hardware news there either.

Speaking on a recent podcast, leaker Nate The Hate, who has a mostly solid track record of leaks and insider information in the gaming industry, talked about some of their predictions for The Game Awards 2024. When talking about Nintendo possibly appearing at the event, Nate The Hate seemed to say with certainty that the company won’t be attending to make any major announcements there.

Nate The Hate adds that they expect Nintendo to at least have an advertisement reel for the holiday season with the possiblity of one more remaster or port, but doesn’t expect the company to have a major presence or any big announcements at The Game Awards this year.

Nintendo has always gone at its own pace outside of industry events and it seems likely that the company will continue to do so. That being said, we’re on the verge of the reveal for the next Nintendo console, nicknamed by fans online as the Switch 2. We’re still unsure when this announcement will happen but according to previous reports, it may be revealed in January 2025 and released in March next year. Of course, take that with a pinch of salt.

We know that the Switch 2 is very close to being revealed. Some brands have even gotten a head start by promoting carry cases for the console. Unfortunately, The Game Awards doesn’t seem like an ideal place to make such a major announcement, so we’ll have to wait a little while longer.
