Today marks a prestigious day for the Nintendo brand and an exciting opportunity for fans in South Africa. Our very own Nintendo Store opened its doors in Sandton City raising the bar for video game retail locations in the country. The Nintendo Store in Sandton City is a destination where fans can enjoy everything they love about the Nintendo brand across its various franchises. It not only plays host to the great lineup of games on the market but it is a key location for purchasing merchandise, amiibos, gaming hardware, figurines and so much more.
The Nintendo Store in Sandton City isn’t just a shop. There’s a lot more going on. The store plays host to in-store gaming demos of the latest titles including, at the moment, Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The store will also host community events and gaming tournaments in the weeks ahead. It aims to be the place where fans can meet up and enjoy the Nintendo brand.
The biggest draw for me was the diverse lineup of products available at the store. I spotted some new Pokemon merchandise, for example, that includes various figurines and even a handful of battle-pose models. There’s also a wide selection of Pokemon plushies including a giant Eevee, a sleeping Charmander and a large Snorlax.
There’s also a huge selection of amiibos available spanning all the iconic franchises including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., Super Smash Bros and more. The same wide selection spans into the gaming tech. You can pick up any Nintendo Switch model you can think of be it the Switch Lite or the Nintendo Switch OLED. There are even a few limited edition models in stock such as the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet OLED and Tears of the Kingdom OLED.
The Nintendo Store is open in Sandton City! It is a place for fans to come and bask in everything Pokémon, Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda and more. I’ll have an in-depth dive into everything on offer soon but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect. pic.twitter.com/bT0UTP3293

If you want accessories, the store is packed with them. You can purchase a new set of Joy-Cons and even pick up some third-party controllers both in standalone and detachable versions. There are carry cases, screen protectors and so much more.
From a merchandise point of view, the store is also equipped with a great selection of hoodies, T-shirts, beanies and other clothing items. If any of this sounds like the perfect gift, Nintendo also gift wraps products purchased in the store with themed Super Mario Bros. wrapping paper. Just in time for the holiday season.
