Nintendo Switch 2 – 5 Must-Have Accessories

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a great console on its own, but like every piece of tech, it needs a few extras. Be it an additional set of Joy-Con 2 controllers, a carry case, or a screen protector, you’ll likely want to pick up some accessories for your shiny new Switch 2.

Here is a guide on some must-have Nintendo Switch 2 accessories spanning docks, controllers, memory cards, screen protectors, and more.

We have also recently covered all confirmed 41 games expected to release this week with the console. Find that full list here.

Nintendo Switch 2 MicroSD Card Express

Likely the most important accessory for your new Switch 2 console is a memory card. You’ll want to upgrade the storage if you plan on transferring your original Switch games to the new console while also installing new Switch 2 games on it.

The Nintendo Switch 2 uses a new MicroSD Express card so you can’t use your existing SD cards. These new memory cards are hard to find but Nintendo has teamed up with Sandisk to release branded cards at 256GB. You can also import 512GB and 1TB cards from Amazon (when they are in stock).

Nintendo Switch 2 Case

You’ll then want a carry case for the console. Nintendo has its own first-party case available which is likely the best route for locals when it comes to buying one. That’s because the market here is pretty much dead on third-party accessories right now. So you don’t have much choice. You can import some cases from Amazon, I have also tested out the JSAUX range and they are quite awesome. I have linked them all below.

Nintendo Switch 2 Screen Protector

While the Switch 2 has its own protective film over the screen, you’ll still want to pick up a screen protector for the console. That’s because the included film is just there to prevent the glass from shattering if cracked. The screen protector will add further protection to the display and essentially protect that film. The official Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector obviously comes bundled with a tempered glass protector, but if you can’t find that, there are other brands below.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is definitely a must-have for those who want a “better” handle on their games when playing the console in docked mode. Sure, you can use the original Switch Pro Controller with the new console, but the Switch 2 version does have added customizable paddle buttons and a 3.5mm audio jack for GameChat support. It also comes with the Capture Button to easily launch the social menu.

Nintendo Switch 2 Cameras

If you plan on making use of the GameChat feature on the Switch 2, or perhaps some of the camera features on the upcoming Super Mario Jamboree + Jamboree TV game, you’ll need a camera. While the Switch 2 supports a range of USB cameras, we don’t know exactly which models work best. So maybe be safe and get one of these. This list includes some Nintendo cameras and some cool third-party ones.
