Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles Spotted at Retailers Ahead of Launch Next Week

With just over a week to go before the global launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, consoles have been spotted at various retailers in the United States. Target stores have seemingly received some of the console stock, with around 40 boxes of units seen locked in a cage.

The photos have been shared on Reddit, with some of them being removed by moderators due to safety concerns. However, the various photos show the console stock slowly trickling in ahead of the launch. One photo shows a locked case with the actual Nintendo Switch 2 box inside, while the other photos show brown boxes that supposedly include consoles.

I don’t know how well equipped these US stores are in terms of stock levels, but 40 consoles surely can’t be enough to cater to the launch crowd? Perhaps Nintendo is shipping the units in batches to avoid theft and leaks?

With the consoles now confirmed to be in various retailers, Nintendo is likely hoping that nothing leaks. At the moment, we don’t know if the console is even operational out of the box. According to various media, there aren’t even review units of the Nintendo Switch 2 console due to how tightly the company has been controlling leaks.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches next week on 5 June. The official specs and detailed breakdown of the hardware were covered last week. Be sure to also catch up on our pre-order guide, the full list of announced games, and all the games that will be released at launch and after here.
