Super Mario Party Jamboree Review

Nintendo Switch 2 Game Upgrade Prices Confirmed For South Africa

Nintendo has confirmed that the previous $9.99 upgrade fee for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Edition were both set at a unique price point. Going forward, it seems that certain Switch 2 Edition upgrades are going to cost you more, in fact, double.

Both the Super Mario Party Jamboree and the Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Star-Crossed World upgrades will set you back $19.99, or R360 in South Africa according to the official ZA Nintendo eShop. This is double the price of the Zelda upgrades.

The Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV Edition is expected to release on 24 July and the Kirby game on 28 August.

The Legend of Zelda upgrades, on the other hand will set you back R180 each. This is according to the official ZA Nintendo eShop page.

It is unclear why Nintendo doubled the price for these upgrades in comparison to both The Legend of Zelda games; however, I can only guess it is because these both feature expansion-like content. Jamboree TV comes with new modes and mini-games that take advantage of the Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality and Switch 2 camera. Kirby, on the other hand, contains new levels and the new Star-Crossed content, which is expected to add more game time to the experience.

Both Zelda games are just remasters of the original Switch titles. While they come with the new Zelda Notes functionality, they don’t include any new content.

Keep in mind that both Zelda Switch 2 Edition upgrades are available with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. The Mario Party and Kirby upgrades aren’t included with the service.

The Nintendo Switch 2 console is expected to launch on 5 June. I had hands-on with the console earlier this month. Be sure to check out five things I loved about it here, and five things I didn’t love so much about it here.
