Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2, the next console from the gaming giant. The company has apparently set up a supply chain that will allow it to sell 20 million Switch 2 units in its first year of release, ensuring there’s no stock shortage of scalping situations.
As reported by analysts as Bloomberg, the supply chain for the Nintendo Switch 2 is looking pretty solid, just in case you were worried that it might repeat the PS5’s stock shortages on release. According to analysts, Nintendo’s supply chain is strong enough to accommodate the sale of 20 million units in its first year. Of course, there’s a lot of hype circulating the Switch 2 right now online, so Nintendo wants to ensure that everyone is able to get a console when it launches this year.
There’s no way to avoid scalping situations, unfortunately, though Nintendo boosting its supply will definitely limit the impact scalpers will have on the market. At the moment, Nintendo has yet to actually announce an official price for the console or give an indication when pre-orders will open.
Nintendo will unveil more details on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 2 April via a “special” Direct, which will be just over eight years since the original Switch launched. We’ll have to wait and see what else Nintendo is able to tell us about the console at this later date, though there will surely be some talk about the slate of video games currently being lined up for the next-gen system in the months to come.
Additionally, the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with the original Switch and allow users to play both physical and digital games previously purchased on the console, lining up with the first early reports of the system being able to carry over your entire library of Switch games.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
