The release date for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, the new console from Nintendo, has officially been announced at a recent Direct event that provided an overview of all the console’s new features and games. Players eager to get their hands on the next-gen console won’t have to wait long as the date is right around the corner.
At the recent Direct event, Nintendo officially announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on 5 June 2025, which is just a couple of months away. The release date coincides with the launch of Mario Kart World, a new entry in the Mario Kart franchise which will be available at the console’s launch date.
As previous reports suggested, Nintendo has targeted a summer release window which isn’t odd for the company as it had previously launched new consoles within that time frame before, usually avoiding the usual holiday bracket on the calendar when other competitor’s consoles tend to launch.
The Switch 2 will come with a list of new and exciting features including a dedicated Chat button (the “C” on the right Joy-Con) with a built-in microphone for seamless chats and screen sharing between friends and other players. Visit the official Nintendo website for more information, and stay tuned for more updates on pre-orders and when you can get your hands on the console.
