Nintendo Switch Online Launches Today – SA Pricing, Free Games and More Detailed

The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch Online service launches today after months of delays. Nintendo plans to roll out the service later today. The new online service allows players to play online using their Nintendo Switch but also offers incentives such as classic free games like Tennis, Mario Bros, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda and much more. The service also allows for cloud save uploads. Lastly, Nintendo will offer up some cool eShop discounts for those who are subscribers to the service.

Nintendo Switch Online South African Pricing

The price plans for the Nintendo Switch Online service range across various monthly packages.

  • R52 per month
  • R105 per three months
  • R262 per twelve months
  • R459 per twelve months family plan (up to eight accounts)

Free Games at launch

The service will launch with 20 free classic NES games when it goes live. More will be added in the coming months. These games include;

  • Tennis
  • Donkey Kong
  • Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Balloon Fight
  • Ice Climber
  • Dr. Mario
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Super Mario Bros.  3
  • Double Dragon
  • River City Ransom
  • Ghosts’n Goblins
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • Gradius
  • Pro Wrestling
  • Excitebike
  • Yoshi
  • Ice Hockey
  • Baseball
  • Solomon’s Key (October)
  • NES Open Tournament Golf (October)
  • and Super Dodge Ball (October)
  • Metroid (November)
  • Mighty Bomb Jack (November)
  • TwinBee (November)
  • Wario Woods (December)

As mentioned before, the cloud saves feature will give you the ability to upload your save data, however, not all games will support this feature. Splatoon 2, for example, will not be enabled for cloud save uploads. Nintendo also revealed that if your membership lapses your saves will be deleted from the cloud servers.

Of course, you can also expect a Nintendo Switch console system update today right before this whole new online service goes live. Nintendo will add a few features to the console and enable the cloud save uploads. There could be more to the update too but Nintendo has been very quiet about that so far.
