The Nintendo Switch has been a massive success for the company. According to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, the consoles have officially passed the Xbox one shipments during the holiday quarter last year. It has only taken Nintendo 34 months to do this, something Microsoft took 74 months to achieve. Nintendo has surpassed the 50 million sell mark which means the console not only beats the Xbox One but also the SNES and is selling faster than the PS4 sold when it was released too.

According to the sales figures, Nintendo sold 20,21 million Switch consoles in 2019 which is up from the 17,41 million in 2018 and 14,86 in 2017. Nintendo also has the Switch Lite to thank for this as it has been driving sales to the original Switch console.
Also worth pointing out that according to our estimates the Nintendo Switch passed the Xbox One in hardware shipments during the holiday quarter last year.
The Xbox One is not too far behind, but it has only taken Switch 34 months to achieve what the Xbox One did in 74 months.

As for the software, Nintendo has a strong lineup which sells millions of copies every year. The top 5 games have remained unchanged for a while now and include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda and you would guess Super Mario Odyssey.
- Mario Kart Deluxe 8 – 22,96 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 17,68 million
- Super Mario Odyssey – 16,59 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 16.34 million
- Pokemon Let’s Go – 11,76 million
Pokemon Sword and Shield also already become the best-selling Nintendo Switch game of all time selling 16.06 million units as of 31 December 2019. It will be added to the top-selling list above once the company release the statistics for the series.
Nintendo is no doubt having a great time with the Switch. 2020 will be even better as the company has some great first-party games up its sleeves like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a rumoured Breath of the Wild sequel, and of course the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield expansion pack.
