Nintendo has rolled out a much-requested feature for the Switch console range. Finally, users can now connect Bluetooth audio devices to the console allowing for wireless audio streaming on the device. After four years on the market, the console now supports a massive range of wireless audio devices.
Once updated, there will be a new Bluetooth Audio option in your settings where users can now add the audio streaming devices to the console. Nintendo has stated that this feature does come with some drawbacks but it shouldn’t be a problem for most users. For example, when you have a Bluetooth audio device connected to your Nintendo Switch, you won’t be able to connect more than two controllers to the device while making use of the feature. This means no Mario Party sessions with friends.

Nintendo also says that the console won’t be able to make use of the local wireless communication feature while you have a Bluetooth audio device connected to the Switch console. This is due to the interference caused by the Bluetooth connection. Lastly, Nintendo has made it clear that the Bluetooth audio on the Switch console is strictly for audio playback. Users won’t be able to use their headsets for microphone features at all.
Thankfully, even with those limitations, users can register up to 10 Bluetooth audio devices on the Nintendo Switch. Some of them may suffer from audio delay so make sure you test out your headphones and earphones so you know they work properly.
How to Connect Bluetooth Audio to Nintendo Switch
Connecting a headset or wireless earphones to your Nintendo Switch is pretty easy. Head over to the Settings – Bluetooth Audio – Add Device. Now start the wireless pairing process on your audio device by either holding down the pair button or turning it on. The Nintendo Switch will now detect any wireless devices around it and you should be able to choose your accessory in the list.
