No Final Decisions Made on E3 2024 and 2025 Yet

After the cancellation of E3 2023 this year, the ESA says it has yet to make any final decisions regarding the future of the show. By the look of things, E3 2024 and 2025 might all well be cancelled already. According to a city report spotted on ResetEra, the city of Los Angeles cites that E3 2024 and E3 2025 have been cancelled and won’t be taking place in downtown LA.

The report comes from the Los Angeles tourism board which was planning ahead for any large conventions in the city. The report details the predicted accommodation bookings and other important information related to tourism in the area. The thing to notice here is the mention of “*Includes E3 cancellations for 2024 & 2025″ in the footnotes.

Since the report gained traction, the ESA has been forced to speak out about the document. In a statement to VGC, the organization says that the ESA is currently having conversations about E3 2024 (and beyond) and no final decisions about the event have been made at this time.

“ESA is currently having conversations about E3 2024 (and beyond), and no final decisions about the event have been made at this time.”

There could be some truth to the document but at the same time, the report might simply be predicting the hotel room bookings which the city of LA can expect with E3 no longer taking place. It doesn’t confirm E3 has been cancelled, just what the city can expect in the next few years with it no longer being held at the Los Angeles Convention Centre.

Of course, the question still remains – Is E3 ever going to return? After this year’s abrupt cancellation back in March, who knows at this point? E3 used to be a very popular week for gaming. However, after publishers started to pull out and the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to do online events, there seems no need for it.
